Here are a few of the criminal law stories that have recently occurred around the state of Alabama:
- Media reports on Thursday afternoon stated that a Mobile man was shot when he tried to meet up with a woman he had recently started communicating with on Facebook. However, as he began speaking with the woman, another man tried to rob him at gunpoint. As the victim attempted to run away, he was shot. He was then taken to the hospital, but according to reports, he has no life threatening injuries.
- Early last week, four Jefferson County gambling facilities – Spin It & Win It in Graysville, Super Highway Bingo in Brighton, Southwind Bingo in Midfield and Fun N Games Arcade, also in Brighton – were raided by officials from the A.G.’s Office and State Bureau of Investigation agents with eighteen people being arrested (including the manager of each of the facilities). In addition to more than 1,100 electronic bingo machines and facility records, an unspecified amount of money (unconfirmed reports said $300,000) was also taken.
