Here are a few of the criminal law stories that have recently occurred around the state of Alabama:
- St. Clair County Animal Control and the Pell City Police Department helped investigate, remove and transport 51 dogs found at the residence of Paulette Perry, a 54-year-old Pell City woman who was already in the Talladega County Jail for possession of drug paraphernalia. The police had been called to perform a welfare check on the home. In addition to the 39 dogs inside and 12 dogs outside the home, police also discovered four dead dogs in the freezer and another deceased dog on the floor. Perry has been was charged with felony cruelty to animals.
- Court records on Friday revealed that Jefferson County grand jury indicted 31-year-old Lee Anthony Woodruff on March 8th in the stabbing death of 34-year-old Roland Gilmore in North Birmingham this past December. Though authorities have not disclosed a motive, Woodruff allegedly fatally stabbed Gilmore with a screwdriver. Woodruff has been held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail since December 5th.
