Here are a few of the criminal law stories that have recently occurred around the state of Alabama:

  • According to authorities, four masked men allegedly stole $135,000 worth of jewelry from Huntsville’s Loring & Co. in less than a minute last Saturday afternoon. The suspects (25-year-old Tre Michael Smith, 22-year-old Tyrus Rashad Ray, 25-year-old Alexander Langford and 33-year-old Nakeel Darrel Davis) walked into the store half an hour before close with one suspect carrying a gun and another carrying a hammer. The men fled with multiple Rolex watches and were caught later that day outside of Atlanta. The suspects are all being charged with first-degree robbery – a Felony A charge which could mean up to life in prison if convicted – and the police expect the four men will face federal charges as well.
  • An argument last weekend has left one north Alabama man dead and another being held on a murder charge in the Franklin County jail. According to police, 63-year-old Jerry Ronald Mills and 39-year-old Jason Floyd Baker were roommates in the Blue Springs Community. Around 10:30 a.m. last Sunday, Baker was fatally shot. Police believe an argument between the two regarding money led to the morning’s deadly events.
