Here are a few of the criminal law stories that occurred around the state of Alabama this past week:
- Decatur police have arrested and charged a local man with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana second degree, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia. They found him in a Motel 6 room after receiving complaints about possible drug activity.
- A Lauderdale County Jail Corrections officer faces contraband charges after attempting to smuggle a Bible filled with drugs and tobacco into the jail. Contents specifically included the prescription narcotic Suboxone.
- Etowah County authorities have charged a 26-year-old mother with chemical endangerment of a child. After her child tested positive for amphetamines and opiates, Samantha Powell McComb admitted that she had smoked methamphetamine while pregnant.
- A woman is being held in connection with the stabbing death of a 25-year-old Tuscaloosa man that occurred this past Sunday night. The homicide unit lieutenant said that the stabbing was most likely the result of a domestic dispute.
