Here are a few of the criminal law stories that occurred around the state of Alabama this past few weeks:
- Judge Jacob A. Walker denied the motion of Mike Hubbard’s defense to delay his trial until August. Jury selection is expected to begin May 16th and the Alabama Speaker’s trial is slated to begin May 24th.
- A Shelby County man made a terrorist threat after an incident at Birmingham’s Briarwood Presbyterian Church on Sunday, May 8th. Police issued a warrant for the man’s arrest on May 9th and apprehended him without incident on May 11th. He is currently being held on a $10,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail.
- A 17-year-old teen was arrested for the shooting death of a 21-year-old at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex early Wednesday morning. According to police, the incident most likely occurred after a drug transaction involving counterfeit money.
