Here are a few of the criminal law stories that occurred around the state of Alabama this past week:
- Though his name is not Walter White, an Alabama high school science teacher was recently arrested on drug-related charges after allegedly selling steroids to undercover narcotics agents. The suspect’s employer, Albertville High School, declined to comment on the charges, but the principal said a substitute is currently teaching his classes.
- Rainbow City Police have arrested three men in connection with the November 6th shooting death of local man Tony McCartney. Officers took 18-year-old Hunter Bellew into custody on November 7th and charged him with capital murder after finding the murder weapon in McCartney’s truck, which had been allegedly stolen and driven by the two other suspects.
- Jefferson County police booked a father and son in connection with an August shooting in Brighton that killed one and injured six, charging both with the slaying of Antonio Hinkle. A ballistics test on the bullet that killed Hinkle linked the weapon to Jimmy Dewayne Williams, 47, and his son, 19-year-old Samarjay Jarranid Leshore. The warrants for their arrests were announced this past Saturday.
