Here are a few of the criminal law stories that occurred around the state of Alabama this past week:

  • The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department seized a total of 90 illegal gambling machines from two businesses in Brighton. Complaints in the area led police to conduct the search.
  • Bessemer Police Department arrested a man suspected of kidnapping a woman at the Trussville Target and forcing her to drive to several locations. He also robbed her before letting her go. He is currently being held in the Jefferson County jail without bond and has been charged with first-degree kidnapping and robbery.
  • A Shelby County grand jury recently returned the indictment against Kareem Dacar Gaymon, the suspect charged with shooting and killing 25-year-old, Home Depot employee Xavier Beasley on September 5th, 2015. The indictment has increased his bond to $1 million, and his hearing will be April 25th.
